The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed higher by 87.29 points at 14,499.24 while Nifty grew by 18.75 points to close at 4,267.40. Of the 2,653 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,437 stocks advanced while 1,134 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed up by 33.74 points and 76.04 points at 6,373.76 and 7,496.48 respectively.
BSE Auto Index grew by 34.01 points to close at 4,796.07 as M&M (2.31%) and Bajaj Auto (0.75%) are closed in green whereas Hero Honda (1.08%) and Maruti Udyog (0.94%) closed in red.
BSE Capital goods index surged by 236.85 points to close at 11,736.76 as L&T (3.88%), BHEL (3.64%), ABB (1.34%) and Siemens (0.42%) are closed in positive.
BSE bank index advanced by 37.63 points to close at 7,827.90 as PNB (2.53%), BOI (1.55%), SBI (1.43%), HDFC bank (0.35%) and ICICI bank (0.20%) are closed in green.
BSE Metal index closed at 10,820.06 up by 95.10 points as Hind Zinc (4.42%), Jindal steel (2.98%), Hindalco by (2.74%) and Nalco (0.71%) closed in green while Jindal Saw (1.35%), Sterlite industries (1.13%) and JSW steel (0.46%) closed in red.
BSE IT index closed flat at 4,886.85. Satyam computers (1.06%), HCL tech (0.58%) and Wipro (0.40%), TCS (0.10%) closed in red
BSE Health Care Index closed marginally higher by 6.83 points at 3,810.17 as Ranbaxy labs (1.18%) and Dr. Reddy lab (0.61%) closed higher while Sun pharma (1.69%), and Cipla (0.12%) closed lower.
BSE FMCG index closed up by 5.74 points at 1,817.64 as HLL (0.40%) closed in green while Dabur (3.16%)
BSE oil & gas index closed higher by 15.92 points at 7,668.29 as BPCL (4.65%), IOCL (4.02%), HPCL (3.97%) and IPCL (0.33%) closed in green.
