The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed marginally up by 13.36 points at 14,501.08 while Nifty grew up by 26.3 points to close at 4,285.70. Of the 2,693 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,493 stocks advanced while 1,117 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap closed up by 33.71 points and 40.51 points at 6,417.90 and 7,604.72 respectively.
BSE Auto Index grew by 22.03 points to close at 4,788.09 as Tata Motors (1.07%) and Maruti Udyog (0.52%) closed in green while Bajaj Auto (0.48%) and M&M (0.41%) closed in red.
BSE Capital goods index surged by 119.83 points to close at 11,949.91 as Siemens (2.09%), ABB (1.71%) and BHEL (1.40%) closed in green while L&T (0.63%) closed in red.
BSE bank index declined by 28.35 points to close at 7,802.33 as ICICI bank (0.60%) and BOI (0.36%) closed lower whereas PNB (1.93%), SBI (0.62%) and HDFC bank (0.39%) closed higher.
BSE Metal index closed at 10,770.83 grew by 22.67 points as Jindal Saw (1.55%), SAIL (0.94%), Tata Steel (0.60%) and Sterlite industries (0.33%) closed in green.
BSE IT index declined by 12.25 points to close at 4,799.99 as Wipro (1.25%), Infosys (0.69%) and TCS (0.27%) closed in red while HCL tech (0.82%) and Satyam computers (0.36%) closed in green.
BSE Health Care Index closed flat at 3,794. Ranbaxy labs (2.36%) and Sun pharma (0.37%) closed lower while Glaxosmithkline (0.64%) and Cipla (0.22%) closed higher.
BSE FMCG index grew marginally by 6.53 points to close at 1,819.24 as HLL (0.69%) and ITC (0.13%) closed in positive while Dabur (1.24%) and Tata tea (0.64%) closed in negative.
BSE oil & gas index closed up by 44.76 points at 7,658.34 as Reliance petroleum (5.85%), ONGC (2.11%) and IOCL (0.19%) closed in green while IPCL (1.18%), BPCL (1.15%), and HPCL (0.80%) closed in red.
