End Session Market Commentary

BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed marginally higher by 26.34 points at 15,260.91 while Nifty decreased by 5.15 points to close at 4440.05. Of the 2,660 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,342 stocks advanced while 1258 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 20.67 points and 15.30 points at 6,618.99 and 7,941.75 respectively.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 18.03 points to close at 4,925.47 as Mahindra and Mahindra (3%) and Bajaj Auto (1.24%) closed lower while Maruti Udyog (2.13%), Tata Motors (1.04%) and Hero Honda (0.53%) closed higher.

BSE Capital goods index decreased by 49.80 points to close at 12,698.97 as Siemens (1.82%), BHEL (0.99%) and ABB (0.45%) closed in negative while L&T (0.83%) closed in positive.

BSE bankex index closed higher by 134.95 points at 8,055.14 as SBI (5.26%), Andhra bank (4.34%), ICICI bank (1.02%) and PNB (0.82%) closed higher while HDFC bank (0.59%) closed lower.

BSE Metal index slipped by 120.25 points to close at 11,381.27 as Nalco (7.67%), Hindalco industries (4.13%), SAIL (1.18%), Sterlite industries (0.94%) and Tata steel (0.66%) closed in red while Hind Zinc (0.75%) closed in green.

BSE IT index fell by 30.55 points to close at 4,845.79 as HCL tech (1.65%), TCS (1.32%) and Infosys (0.97%) closed in negative while Satyam (1.39%) closed in positive.

BSE Health Care Index decreased by8.89 points to close at 3,682.47 as Dr Reddy lab (1.08%) and Sun pharma (0.71%) closed in red while Ranbaxy labs (0.48%) and Cipla (0.16%) closed in green.

BSE FMCG index increased by 17.40 points to close at 1,945.26 as HUL (6.26%) and Dabur (1.74%) closed higher while ITC (2.62%) closed lower.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 35 points at 7,980.75 as BPCL (2.06%), IPCL (1.38%) and Reliance industries (1%) closed lower while GAIL (5.08%) and HPCL (0.59%) and closed higher.
