The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive inspiring note as it grew by 142.25 points to close at 14,806.51 while Nifty increased by 43.8 points to close at 4,357.55. Of the 2,714 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,440 stocks advanced while 1,197 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 57.65 points and 62.87 points at 6,649 and 7,846.13 respectively.
BSE Auto Index grew by 12.25 points to close at 4,803.31 as Maruti Udyog (1.65%) and Tata Motors (0.57%) closed in green while Bajaj auto (1.45%) and Hero Honda (0.33%) closed in red.
BSE Capital goods index increased by 107.76 points to close at 12,536.91 as Siemens (1.27%), L&T (1.08%), ABB (1.06%) and BHEL (0.90%) closed in green.
BSE bankex index grew by 150.22 points to close at 8,140.70 as SBI (3.37%), PNB (2.84%), ICICI bank (1.63%), BOI (0.42%) and HDFC bank (0.39%) closed higher.
BSE Metal index closed at 10,660.22 up by 99.9 points as SAIL (1.29%), Tata Steel (1.23%) and Sterlite industries (0.88%) are closed higher.
BSE IT index increased by 11.85 points to close at 4,879.12 as Satyam (1.07%), Wipro (0.47%) and Infosys (0.23%) closed in positive while TCS (0.60%) and HCL tech (0.33%) closed in negative.
BSE Health Care Index closed marginally up by 6.36 points at 3,855.95 as Cipla (1.67%), and Dr Reddy (0.64%) closed in green while Sun pharma (0.92%), Glaxosmithkline (0.22%) and Ranbaxy labs (0.11%) closed in red.
BSE FMCG index grew by 24.36 points to close at 1,848.36 as HUL (2.96%), ITC (1.36%), Dabur (0.93%) and Tata tea (0.81%) closed in positive.
BSE oil & gas index increased by 39.21 points to close at 7,636.51 as Reliance petroleum (0.83%), IPCL (0.77%) and GAIL (0.18%) closed higher while BPCL (0.98%) and ONGC (0.92%) closed lower.
