Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it grew by 73.73 points to close at 14,880.24 while Nifty increased by 1.75 points to close at 4,359.30. Of the 2,676 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,437 stocks declined while 1,187 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap closed lower by 3.35 points at 6,645.65 while Small cap closed higher by 9.53 points at 7,855.66.

BSE Auto Index grew by 34.34 points to close at 4,837.65 as M&M (1.74%), Tata Motors (1.42%), Maruti Udyog (0.91%) and Bajaj auto (0.56%) closed in green.

BSE Capital goods index increased by 35.72 points to close at 12,572.63 as L&T (1.44%) and Siemens (0.56%) closed higher while ABB (0.48%) and BHEL (0.11%) closed lower.

BSE bankex index grew by 18.28 points to close at 8,158.98 as ICICI bank (1.98%) and HDFC bank (0.12%) closed in green while BOI (1.99%), PNB (1.72%) and SBI (1.20%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,785.05 up by 124.83 points as Tata Steel (2.61%), SAIL (1.54%) and Nalco (0.46%) closed in positive while Sterlite industries (1.07%) and Hindalco (0.60%) closed in negative.

BSE IT index decreased by 37.48 points to close at 4,841.64 as Wipro (1.20%), TCS (0.93%), HCL tech (0.88%) and Infosys (0.72%) closed in positive.

BSE Health Care Index closed marginally up by 8.07 points at 3,864.02 as Cipla (2.29%), Ranbaxy labs (0.93%) and Glaxosmithkline (0.38%) closed higher while Sun pharma (0.69%) and Dr Reddy (0.25%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index grew by 14.25 points to close at 1,862.61 as HUL (1.44%) and ITC (1.12%) closed higher while Tata tea (0.61%) and Dabur (0.49%) closed in lower.

BSE oil & gas index decreased by 1.80 points to close at 7,634.71 as ONGC (1.54%), Reliance petroleum (1%) and GAIL (0.66%) closed lower while IPCL (0.78%) and BPCL (0.10%) closed higher.
