Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it decreased by 18.35 points to close at 14,861.89 while Nifty dropped by 5.35 points to close at 4,353.95. Of the 2,637 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,627 stocks declined while 949 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap closed lower by 39.80 points at 6,605.85 while Small cap dropped by 59.64 points to close at 7,796.02.

BSE Auto Index grew by 44.29 points to close at 4,881.94 as M&M (3.01%), Maruti Udyog (1.77%), Tata Motors (1.41%) and Hero Honda (0.55%) closed higher.

BSE Capital goods index increased by 46.31 points to close at 12,618.94 as L&T (1.73%) and BHEL (0.74%) closed in positive while ABB (0.99%) and Siemens (0.10%) closed in negative.

BSE bankex index grew by 29.03 points to close at 8,188.01 as ICICI bank (2.03%) and UTI bank (1.97%) closed higher while HDFC bank (1.65%), BOI (1.48%), SBI (1.06%) and PNB (0.82%) closed lower.

BSE Metal index closed at 10,816.64 up by 31.59 points as Tata Steel (1.74%), Nalco (1.11%) and SAIL (0.61%) closed in green while Hindalco (1.15%) and Sterlite industries (0.10%) closed in red.

BSE IT index decreased by 49.65 points to close at 4,791.99 as Wipro (0.93%), HCL tech (0.86%), Infosys (0.85%) and TCS (0.67%) closed in negative.

BSE Health Care Index closed lower by 25.48 points at 3,838.54 as Ranbaxy labs (2.07%), Sun pharma (1.30%), Cipla (1.01%) and Glaxosmithkline (0.17%) closed lower while Dr Reddy (1.45%) closed higher.

BSE FMCG index slipped by 7.81 points to close at 1,854.80 as HUL (0.73%) closed in green while Tata tea (1.79%), Dabur (1.37%) and ITC (1.11%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index decreased by 17.72 points to close at 7,616.99 as Reliance petroleum (0.70%), IPCL (0.88%), and BPCL (0.31%) closed lower while GAIL (1.36%) and ONGC (0.62%) closed higher.
