The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it grew by 38.50 points to close at 15,311.22 while Nifty increased by7.6 points to close at 4,512.15. Of the 2,750 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,483 stocks advanced while 1,210 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 39.25 points and 64.44 points at 6,834.55 and 8,280.58 respectively.
BSE Auto Index increased by 22.34 points to close at 5,080.79 as Bajaj Auto (3.71%) and Hero Honda (1.47%) closed higher while Tata Motors (1.04%), Maruti Udyog (0.61%) and M&M (0.46%) closed lower.
BSE Capital goods index slipped by 52.17 points to close at 13,007.01 as BHEL (1.47%), Siemens (1.26%) and ABB (1.08%) closed in red while L&T (0.55%) closed in green.
BSE bankex index increased by 104.90 points to close at 8,386.65 as Allahabad bank (8.94%), Canara bank (4.71%), SBI (3.83%) and PNB (3.50%) closed in positive while HDFC bank (1.26%) and ICICI bank (0.12%) closed in negative.
BSE Metal index surged by 90.08 points to close at 12,090.98 as Nalco (3.64%), Hindalco (3.41%), Jindal Saw (1.37%) and Jindal steel (0.99%) closed in green while Hind Zinc (1.58%) and SAIL (1.03%) closed in red.
BSE IT index decreased by 49.68 points to close at 4,848.27 as Wipro (2.32%), Satyam (2.26%), HCL tech (2.04%), TCS (0.79%) and Infosys (0.30%) closed in negative.
BSE Health Care Index slipped by 33.85 points to close at 3,814.80 as Ranbaxy (2.17%), Sun pharma (1.54%), Cipla (1.32%) and Dr Reddy (0.91%) closed in red while Glaxosmithkline (0.62%) closed in green.
BSE FMCG index dropped by 18.15 points to close at 1,846.03 as HUL (2.22%), Tata tea (0.96%), ITC (0.90%) and Dabur (0.88%) closed lower.
BSE oil & gas index advanced by 50.10 points to close at 7,869.77 as GAIL (1.60%), ONGC (1.60%), Reliance industries (0.46%) and IPCL (0.31%) closed higher while BPCL (0.79%) and HPCL (0.38%) closed lower.
