Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed marginally up by 15.42 points at 15,565.55 while Nifty increased by 3.95 points to close at 4566.05. Of the 2,656 stocks actively traded on BSE, 902 stocks advanced while 1,696 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap closed up 8.33 points at 6,836.07 while Small cap closed lower by 70.40 points at 8,188.12.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 22.37 points to close at 5,125.21 as Bajaj Auto (2.30%), Hero Honda (1.61%) and Tata Motors (1.41%) closed lower while M&M (0.99%) and Maruti Udyog (0.16%) closed higher.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 193.90 points to close at 13,070.08 as L&T (4.15%) and Suzlon energy (1.28%) closed in green while BEML (2.82%), Praj industries (1.62%), Siemens (0.59%), ABB (0.38%) and BHEL (0.23%) closed in red.

BSE bankex index closed lower by 59.21 points at 8,394.76 as PNB (1.39%), Union Bank (1.10%), HDFC bank (0.98%), SBI (0.76%), ICICI bank (0.44%) and Canara bank (0.16%) closed in negative.

BSE Metal index increased by 178.12 points to close at 12,211.10 as Tata Steel (4.84%), Hind Zinc (2.64%), SAIL (0.80%), Jindal Saw (0.63%0 and Sterlite industries (0.15%) closed higher while Hindalco (1.88%), Jindal steel (1.11%) and Nalco (0.57%) closed lower.

BSE IT index decreased by 35.25 points to close at 4,921.06 as Satyam (1.81%), HCL tech (0.52%) and Infosys (0.50%) closed lower while TCS (0.23%) closed higher.

BSE Health Care Index slipped by 10.66 points to close at 3,830.19 as Cipla (2.21%) and Glaxosmithkline (0.84%) closed in red while Dr Reddy (0.48%) and Ranbaxy (0.28%) closed in green.

BSE FMCG index declined by 12.30 points at 1,829.19 as HUL (1.82%), Tata tea (0.37%) and Dabur (0.24%) closed lower while ITC (0.23%) closed higher.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 56.81 points at 8,111.54 as HPCL (2.07%), BPCL (1.58%), GAIL (1.01%), ONGC (0.97%), Reliance industries (0.50%) and IPCL (0.25%) closed in negative.
