Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed higher by 62.72 points at 15,794.92 while Nifty increased by 1.4 points to close at 4620.75. Of the 2,740 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,777 stocks declined while 903 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 36.78 points and 80.82 points at 6,812.34 and 8,153.63 respectively.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 72.98 points to close at 5,125.51 as M&M (3.23%), Tata Motors (3.09%), Maruti Udyog (1.74%) and Hero Honda (1.39%) closed lower while Bajaj Auto (1.03%) closed higher.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 171.11 points to close at 13,767.31 as BHEL (3.96%), L&T (2.03%), BEML (1.96%), Siemens (0.96%) and ABB (0.95%) closed in positive while Praj industries (2.86%) and Suzlon energy (2.07%) closed in negative.

BSE bankex index closed little higher by 1.28 points at 8,356.45 as HDFC bank (2.50%) and Canara bank (0.95%) closed in green while Union Bank (1.03%), SBI (0.77%) and PNB (0.65%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index increased by 64.62 points to close at 12,369.62 as SAIL (2.88%), Nalco (1.08%), Hindalco (0.92%) and JSW steel (0.55%) closed higher while Jindal Saw (1.52%), Hind Zinc (1.39%) and Sterlite industries (1.31%) closed lower.

BSE IT index grew by 60.55 points to close at 4,963.12 as Satyam (5.42%) and Infosys (1.53%) closed in positive while HCL tech (1.87%), TCS (1.68%) and Wipro (0.26%) closed in negative.

BSE Health Care Index decreased by 20.23 points to close at 3,778.21 as Ranbaxy (1.74%), Cipla (1.65%), and Sun pharma (1.60%) closed in red while Dr Reddy (0.88%) closed in green.

BSE FMCG index slipped by 28.14 points at 1,843.30 as HUL (2.13%) and ITC (0.65%) closed lower while Tata tea (1.47%) and Dabur (0.20%) closed higher.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 3.55 points at 8,207.08 as BPCL (2.28%) and GAIL (0.80%) closed in red while HPCL (1.13%), ONGC (0.65%) and IPCL (0.49%) closed in green.
