Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it closed lower by 95.59 points at 15,699.33 while Nifty decreased by 32.05 points to close at 4588.70. Of the 2,685 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,751 stocks declined while 865 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 57.14 points and 97.27 points at 6,755.20 and 8,056.36 respectively.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 102.71 points to close at 5,022.80 as Bajaj Auto (3.52%), Tata Motors (2.54%), Mahindra and Mahindra (1.38%) and Maruti Udyog (1.22%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index slipped by 338.51 points to close at 13,428.80 as L&T (3.41%) at Rs2,582, BHEL (2.29%) and ABB (1.39%) closed in negative.

BSE bankex index closed lower by 72.09 points at 8,284.36 as PNB(2.65%), ICICI bank (1.34%), SBI (1.02%), HDFC bank (0.8%) and HDFC (0.56%) closed lower.

BSE Metal index slipped by 208.56 points to close at 12,161.06 as SAIL (4.97%), Hindalco industries (2.14%), Tata steel (1.94%) and Nalco (1.38%) closed in red.

BSE IT index decreased by 56.33 points to close at 4,906.79 as Satyam (5.98%), TCS (1.96%) and Wipro (1.19%) closed in negative.

BSE Health Care Index fell by 45.35 points to close at 3,732.86 as Dr Reddy lab (1.79%), Ranbaxy labs (1.16%), Cipla (1.06%) and Sun pharma (0.93%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index grew by 72.05 points at 1,915.35 as ITC (8.55%) and HUL (1%) closed higher.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 4 points at 8,203.08 as RPL (0.87%) and Reliance industries (0.26%) closed lower while ONGC (1.96%), BPCL (1.29%) and HPCL (1.18%) closed higher.
