Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it closed lower by 541.74 points at 15,234.57 while Nifty decreased by 174.6 points to close at 4445.20. Of the 2,576 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,951 stocks declined while 570 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 192.18 points and 219.41 points at 6,598.32 and 7,926.45 respectively.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 152.94 points to close at 4,943.50 as Tata Motors (4.20%), Hero Honda (3.55%), Bajaj Auto (3.30%), Mahindra and Mahindra (3.08%) and Maruti Udyog (1.35%) closed in red.

BSE Capital goods index decreased by 498.26 points to close at 12,748.77 as BHEL (5.40%), ABB (4.87%), L&T (4.58%) and Siemens (3.16%) closed in negative.

BSE bankex index closed lower by 265.33 points at 7,920.19 as PNB (4.61%), HDFC bank (4.29%), Andhra bank (3.45%), ICICI bank (3.26%) and SBI (3.28%) closed lower.

BSE Metal index slipped by 638.19 points to close at 11,501.52 as Tata steel (7.37%), Hind Zinc (5.55%), Hindalco industries (5.27%), SAIL (4.85%), sterlite industries (4.80%) and Nalco (3.94%) closed in red.

BSE IT index fell by 124.90 points to close at 4,876.34 as HCL tech (4.62%) and Satyam (4.50%), Wipro (3.56%), TCS (2.73%) and Infosys (1.33%) closed lower.

BSE Health Care Index decreased by 97 points to close at 3,691.36 as Dr Reddy lab (3.50%), Sun pharma (2.86%) and Cipla (2.58%) closed in negative while Ranbaxy labs (0.40%) closed in positive.

BSE FMCG index slipped by 2.22 points to close at 1,927.86 as HUL (4.01%) and Dabur (3.59%) closed lower while ITC (3.12%) closed higher.

BSE oil & gas index closed lower by 309.44 points at 8,015.75 as ONGC (4.42%), IPCL (3.98%), Reliance industries (3.84%), HPCL (2.86%) and BPCL (2.23%) closed lower.
