End Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a deep red note as it closed lower by 615.22 points at 14,935.77 Nifty declined by 183 points to close at 4345.85. Of the 2,651 stocks actively traded on BSE, 2109 stocks declined while 501 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap slipped by 256.62 points and 294.73 points to close at 6,461.46 and 7,775.90 respectively.

BSE Capital goods index fell 624.37 points to close at 12,697.41 as ABB (5.74%), L&T (4.66%), Siemens (4.63%) and BHEL (3.95%) closed lower.

BSE Metal index dropped by 559.64 points to close at 11,071.28 as Hindalco industries (6.44%), Sterlite industries (5.89%), Tata steel (5.04%) and SAIL (3.87%) closed in red while Nalco (1.06% closed in green.

BSE oil & gas index declined by 357.85 points at 7,772.65 as Reliance industries (4.98%), BPCL (4.36%), HPCL (4.68%), IPCL (4.12%), GAIL (3.60%), Reliance petroleum (3.49%) closed in red.

BSE bankex index closed lower by 320.22 points at 7,828.46 as Allahabad Bank (6.75%), PNB (6.44%), SBI (4.69%), ICICI bank (3.85%), Andhra bank (3.11%) and HDFC bank (3.07%) closed lower.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 162.29 points to close at 4,771.54 as Mahindra and Mahindra (4.87%), Tata Motors (4.60%), Bajaj Auto (3.06%), Maruti Udyog (2.63%) and Hero Honda (0.39%) closed in red.

BSE IT index decreased by 151.20 points to close at 4,711.32 as HCL tech (5.34%), Wipro (4.03%), TCS (3.68%), Satyam (2.79%) and Infosys (2.41%) closed in negative.

BSE Health Care Index decreased by 120.03 points to close at 3,598.23 as Ranbaxy labs (5.67%), Glaxosmithkline (4.35%), Sun pharma (2.98%), Cipla (2.62%), Glennmark (2.23%) and Dr Reddy lab (1.75%) closed lower.

BSE FMCG index closed lower by 46.95 points at 1,926.21 as Dabur (4.20%), HUL (2.25%) and ITC (2.11%) closed in red.
