End session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed higher by 49.93 points at 14,985.70 while Nifty increased by 10.5 points to close at 4356.35. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap increased by 53.96 points and 29.56 points to close at 6,515.42 and 7,805.46 respectively. Of the 2,640 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,346 stocks advanced while 1,223 stocks declined.

BSE Capital goods index grew 94.53 points to close at 12,791.94 as BHEL (2.13%), ABB (0.68%) and L&T (0.10%) closed in green while Siemens (1.28%) closed in red.

BSE Metal index increased by 98.09 points to close at 11,169.37 as Welspun (3.81%), Tata steel (2.65%) and Hindalco industries (0.28%) and SAIL (0.24%) closed in red while Nalco (5.02%) closed in green.

BSE oil & gas index advanced by 3.37 points at 7,776.02 as Reliance petroleum (1.95%), HPCL (0.51%), GAIL (0.40%) and Reliance industries (0.20%) closed in green while BPCL (0.49%) closed in red.

BSE bankex index closed higher by 118.34 points at 7,946.80 as SBI (2.87%), Allahabad Bank (1.57%), PNB (1.78%) and ICICI bank (1.02%) closed higher while HDFC bank (0.80%) and Andhra bank (0.67%) closed lower.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 24.46 points to close at 4,747.08 as Hero Honda (2.93%), Mahindra and Mahindra (2.59%) and Tata Motors (2.23%) closed in red while Maruti Udyog (1.86%) and Bajaj Auto (0.21%) closed in green.

BSE IT index decreased by 62.21 points to close at 4,649.11 as Wipro (2.83%), TCS (1.83%), Infosys (1.55%) and Satyam (0.75%) closed in negative.

BSE Health Care Index increased by 17.25 points to close at 3,615.48 as Glaxosmithkline (5.12%), Ranbaxy labs (0.99%) and Sun pharma (0.30%) closed in green while Glennmark (2.72%) and Dr Reddy lab (1.75%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed higher by 6.12 points at 1,932.33 as Dabur (0.95%) and ITC (0.39%) closed in red.
