End Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed higher by 148.96 points at 15,017.21 while Nifty increased by 40.3 points to close at 4,373.65. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed up by 67.55 points and 124.15 points to close at 6,575.17 and 8,028.28 respectively. Of the 2,759 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,906 stocks advanced while 804 stocks declined.

BSE Metal index increased by 145.22 points to close at 11,008.83 as Jindal Saw (3.06%), Sterlite Industries (2.62%), Tata steel (1.29%), Nalco (1.04%), Hindalco industries (0.89%), SAIL (0.40%) and JSW steel (0.14%) closed in negative.

BSE Auto Index advanced by 89.53 points to close at 4,825.93 as Tata Motors (3.46%), Mahindra and Mahindra (2.80%), Bajaj Auto (2.64%) and Maruti Udyog (2.47%) closed in green while Hero Honda (0.33%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index advanced by 54.85 points to close at 7,810.81 as BPCL (1.56%), Reliance petroleum (1.06%), Reliance industries (1%), IPCL (0.64%), GAIL (0.45)% and HPCL (0.10%) closed higher.

BSE bankex index closed higher by 54.06 points at 7,827.77 as IDBI Bank (7.71%), ICICI bank (1.09%), Andhra Bank (1.02%), PNB (0.77%), BOI (0.62%), SBI (0.38%) and HDFC Bank (0.34%) closed in positive.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 47.04 points to close at 12,815.39 as ABB (1.45%), BHEL (0.94%), Siemens (0.41%) and L&T (0.14%) closed in green.

BSE Health Care Index grew by 40.05 points to close at 3,641.14 as Cipla (3.33%), Glennmark (3.04%), Ranbaxy (1.70%), Sun pharma (1.09%) and Dr Reddy lab (0.47%) closed higher while GlaxoSmithKline (0.22%) closed lower.

BSE FMCG index closed up by 29.11 points at 1,932.16 as HUL (4.04%), ITC (0.83%) and Dabur (0.49%) closed in green.

BSE IT index closed lower by 9.09 points at 4,765.04 as TCS (0.87%), HCL technologies (0.64%), Satyam (0.55%), Infosys (0.02%) and Wipro (0.02%) are closed in red.
