End Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it closed lower by 16.30 points at 15,000.91 while Nifty decreased by 3.45 points to close at 4,370.20. The BSE Mid cap closed lower by 12.01 points at 6,563.16 while Small cap closed up by 6.28 points at 8,034.56. Of the 2,764 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,572 stocks advanced while 1,104 stocks declined.

BSE Metal index increased by 7.80 points to close at 11,016.63 as JSW Steel (2.72%) and Hindalco industries (0.95%) closed in positive while Tata steel (0.37%), SAIL (1.80%) and Sterlite Industries (0.01%) closed in negative.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 14.34 points to close at 4,811.59 as Mahindra and Mahindra (1.59%), Maruti Udyog (0.87%), Hero Honda (0.84%) closed in red while Bajaj Auto (0.25%) closed in green.

BSE oil & gas index advanced by 36.89 points to close at 7,847.70 as BPCL (1.70%), HPCL (0.87%), IPCL (0.46%), Reliance petroleum (0.18%), Reliance industries (0.16%), and GAIL (0.14%) closed higher.

BSE bankex index closed higher by 18.52 points at 7,846.29 as BOI 3.64%, HDFC Bank 1.26%, PNB 0.41%, ICICI bank 0.29%, SBI 0.10% closed higher while Andhra Bank (1.12%) and IDBI Bank (0.64%) closed lower.

BSE Capital goods index slipped by 34.88 points to close at 12,780.51 as BHEL (1.37%), L&T (0.60%) and Siemens (0.53%) closed in negative while Praj industries 3.09% and ABB 0.55% closed in positive.

BSE Health Care Index closed lower by 11.54 points to close at 3,629.60 as Glennmark (1.45%), Cipla (0.26%) and Ranbaxy (0.15%) closed lower while Dr Reddy lab 0.20% closed higher while GlaxoSmithKline 0.18% closed higher.

BSE FMCG index decreased by 10.38 points at 1,921.78 as HUL (1.72%) and Dabur (1.02%), Tata Tea (1%) closed in red.

BSE IT index closed lower by 3.60 points at 4,761.44 as TCS (0.48%) and Satyam (0.16%) closed lower while HCL technologies 0.58%, Wipro 0.17% and Infosys 0.12% closed higher.
