Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it closed lower by 207.83 points at 15,100.15 while Nifty declined by 58.9 points to close at 4,403.20. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 106.09 points and 87.10 points to close at 6,559.58 and 7,964.12 respectively. Of the 2,670 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,611 stocks declined while 1,011 stocks advanced.

BSE IT index decreased by 74.58 points to close at 4,733.85 as Satyam (2.55%), Infosys (1.61%), HCL technologies (1.28%) and TCS (0.62%) closed in red while wipro (0.37%) is closed in green.

BSE bankex index closed down by 100.84 points at 7,975.48 as IDBI Bank (4.3%), SBI (3.30%), PNB (1.74%) and HDFC Bank (1.41%) closed in negative while ICICI bank (0.72%) closed in positive.

BSE Capital goods index dropped by 228 points to close at 13,032.66 as L&T (1.69%), ABB (1.27%) and Siemens (0.80%) closed lower while BHEL (1.21%) is closed higher.

BSE Metal index decreased by 103.15 points to close at 11,118.87 as Hindalco industries (3.61%), JSW steel (2.86%), Jindal Saw (2.12%) and Sterlite Industries (0.14%) closed in negative while SAIL (1.14%) and Tata steel (0.29%) closed in positive.

BSE oil & gas index slipped by 157.60 points at 7,891.15 as GAIL (2.45%), ONGC (2.43%), HPCL (2.41%), Reliance petroleum (2.21%), IPCL (2.05%) and BPCL (1.27%) closed in negative.

BSE FMCG index closed lower by 33.77 points at 1,920.03 as ITC (2.03%), HUL (0.86%) and Dabur (0.34%) closed in red.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 41.59 points to close at 4,769.15 as Maruti Udyog (1.03%), Bajaj Auto (0.85%) and Mahindra and Mahindra (0.29%) closed lower while Tata Motors (0.30%) and Hero Honda (0.18%) closed higher.

BSE Health Care Index slipped by 20.31 points at 3,651.28 as Glennmark (2.48%), Ranbaxy (2.66%), GlaxoSmithKline (1.13%) and Sun pharma (0.46%) closed in red while Dr Reddy lab (1.23%) and Cipla (0.91%) closed in green.
