Post Market Commentary

The markets closed the session on a positive note as BSE Sensex closed higher by 103.45 points at 15,422.05 and the Nifty grew by 10.75 points to end at 4,474.75. The BSE mid cap and Small cap closing higher by 111.65 points and 133.93 points at 6,720.07 and 8,194.45 respectively. The market breadth was strong with 1,973 stocks are advancing and 746 stocks are declining.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 164.04 points to close at 13,588.78 as Jyoti Structures (5.15%), ABB (4.29%), Havell India (3.26%), Bharat Electricals (3.23%), BHEL (2.74%) and L&T (0.17%) closed higher.

BSE bankex index closed higher by 131.53 points at 7,990.32 as Bank of Baroda (5.53%), Union bank (3.23%), ICICI bank (2.56%), IOB (2.54%), Kotak Bank (2.35%), HDFC bank (0.48%) and SBI (0.38%) closed in green.

BSE Metal index surged by 72.13 points to close at 11,637.94 as , JSW Steel (2.46%) and Tata steel (0.31%) closed in positive while SAIL (1.21%) and and NALCO (0.06%) closed in negative.

BSE Auto Index grew by 21.53 points to close at 4,899.58 as M&M (1.75%), Maruti Udyog (1.46%), Ashok Leyland (1.05%) and Tata Motors (0.16%) closed in green. Bajaj Auto (1.01%) and Hero Honda (0.43%) closed in red.

BSE oil & gas index dropped by 5.02 points to close at 8,155.11 as ONGC (1.82%), IPCL (0.76%) and BPCL (0.06%) closed lower while Reliance petroleum (6.09%) and Indian Oil (1.10%) closed higher.

BSE Health Care Index closed up by 58.51 points at 3,631.33 as Nicholas Piramal (6.74%), Wockhardt (4.53%), Dr Reddy lab (3.87%), Cipla (2.75%), Sun pharma (1.46%), Ranbaxy (1.24%) and Glenmark (1.17%) closed in positive.

BSE FMCG index increased by 29.18 points to close at 2,003.11 as Brittnia India (3.48%), Colgate Palmolive (3.45%), Tata Tea (2.09%), ITC (1.93%) closed in green.

BSE IT index jumped by 22.16 points to close at 4,607.82 as Financial technologies (5.13%), Mphasis (3.60%), HCL technologies (2.32%), Satyam (0.57%) and Infosys (0.37%) closed higher while Wipro (1.42%) closed in red.
