The market is still in deep red as strong selling continued across the board. The strong selling pressure is seen in the frontline indices mainly led by the IT, Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and FMCG stocks. However, the banking stocks are facing some buying momentum. However, the broader market has outperformed the benchmark index from the opening bell.
The overall market breadth is positive, as 1216 stocks are advancing while 1103 stocks are declining and the 65 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The BSE Mid cap is higher by 42.18 points at 6,386.90 and the BSE small Cap advanced by 37.26 points to trade at 7,815.20.
At 12.30 pm, BSE Sensex was at 15,603.40 down by 153.68 points and Nifty was at 4,711.70 down by 49.50 points.
BSE Banks index improved by 70.89 points to trade at 7,974.98. The top gainers are Yes Bank (5.23%), Bank of India (2.18%), AXIX Bank (2.14%) and Kotak Bank (2.21%).
BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 159.36 points lower at 10,390.76 as ONGC (1.86%), RPL (1.17%), Cairn India (0.86%) and BPCL (0.75%) are trading in red.
BSE Health Care index declined by 15.24 points to trade at 3,925.42 as Dr.Reddy (1.7%), Fortis Health (1.23%), Ranbaxy Lab. (1.48%), Sun Pharma (1.33%) and Cipla (0.91%) are trading in negative.
BSE Capital goods index dropped by 216.55 points to 12,539.38. The main losers are L&T (3.79%), ABB (1.49%), Siemens (1.02%) and BEML (1.67%).
Bhel is trading up by (2.99%) as the company and Reliance industries are in talks to form a joint venture for setting up of solar fab units. The proposed joint venture is likely to enter into the manufacturing of other small and medium equipment for solar power apart from the solar photo voltaic (SPV) cells. Both the partners have not finalized the financial and technical details for the proposed joint venture.

BSE Auto index declined by 12.19 points to trade at 4,421.79. Leading to its fall are TVS Motor (1.34%), Maruti Suzuki (1.08%), Tata Motors (0.90%) and Hero Honda (0.69%).
