Mid Day Market Commentary

Market was trading in positive territory on the backdrop of buying interest in shares. Overall market breadth was positive as 1488 stocks advanced and 700 stocks declined on BSE.

At 12.36, BSE Sensex was at 12,779.54 up by 154.96 points and Nifty was at 3,735.20 up by 44.54 points. BSE Mid cap was up by 42.35 points to trade at 5,278.72 and BSE small cap was up by 80.23 points to trade at 6,313.64.

BSE capital goods index surged 188.77 points to trade at 8906.84 as BHEL (6.12%), L&T (1.50%) and ABB (1.45%) trading higher.

BSE IT index edged up by 6.93 points to trade at 4773.90 as HCL Technology (3.36%) and Wipro (1.36%) trading higher while Satyam (1.33%) was trading in red.

BSE auto index fell 1.57 points to trade at 4601.75 as hero Honda (1.53%), Tata Motors (0.48%) and M&M (0.32%) trading lower, while Maruti (0.27%) and Bajaj Auto (0.51%) were trading higher.

BSE Banks index grew 104.04 points to trade at 6286.48; ICICI Bank, SBI and HDFC Bank were trading up.

BSE Oil & gas index was trading 81.81 points up at 6369.02 as GAIL (2.54%), RIL (1.66%), IPCL (1.62%), BPCL (1.46%) and HPCL (1.33%) were trading up.

BSE FMCG index grew 13.22 points to trade at 1726.84 as ITC up (0.94%), whereas Dabur (1.18%) and HLL (0.60%) were trading lower.

BSE Metal index surge 159.66 points to trade at 8379.29 as SAIL (2.11%), Hindalco (1.78%) and Tata Steel (1.12%) trading higher.

BSE Health Care index grew 56.69 points to trade at 3631.34 as Dr. Reddy''s (2.95%), Cipla (1.76%) and Ranbaxy (0.67%) trading in green.
