Post Session Market Commentary

After opening on a positive note, the market was trading significantly higher during the day. Finally, BSE Sensex closed at 12,786.77 with an increase of 162.19 points. The NSE Nifty surged 42.60 points to close at 3,733.25. Overall, the market breadth was positive as 1580 stocks were closed in green whereas 900 were ended up in red zone in BSE.

BSE Mid cap and BSE Small cap indices followed the trend of benchmark index, as BSE mid cap edged up by 43.71 points at 5,280.07, while the BSE small cap grew 72.84 points at 6,386.48.

BSE oil & gas index closed at 6,371.32 up by 1.34% as IPCL (1.83%), GAIL (1.82%), RIL (1.79%), BPCL (0.94%), HPCL (0.51%) and ONGC (0.38%) ended higher.

BSE Metal index closed 1.79% up at 8,366.76 as Tata Steel (1.47%), Hindalco (0.74%) and SAIL (0.31%) ended higher.

BSE IT index closed 0.99% up at 4,814.24 as HCL Tech (3.31%), Wipro (3.14%) and Infosys (1.29%) ended in green.

BSE FMCG index closed at 1,713.11 down by 0.03%, as HLL and ITC dropped by (1.95%) (0.77%) respectively.

BSE bank index grew by 1.15% at 6,253.61: ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and SBI bank ended in green.

BSE Capital goods index edged up by 2.23% at 8,912.32 as BHEL (3.81%), ABB (2.11%), L&T (0.92%) and Siemens (0.88%) advanced.

BSE Auto Index fell 0.44% at 4,591.92 as Hero Honda (2.87%), M&M (2.65%) and Tata Motors (0.72%) ended lower.

BSE Health Care Index closed at 3,645.99 with a growth of 2.0% as Dr. Reddy (3.68%), Cipla (2.39%), Sun (1.12%) and Ranbaxy (0.38%) ended in green.
