After opening on a positive note, the market keeps on trading in green during the whole trading session. Finally, BSE Sensex closed at 13,384.08 with an incline of 270.27 points. The NSE Nifty closed at 3917.35 up by 87.5 points. Overall, the market breadth was strong as 1559 stocks ended up in green whereas 989 stocks were closed in red zone in BSE.
BSE Mid cap and BSE Small cap indices followed the trend of benchmark index, as BSE mid cap inclined by 64.10 points at 5576.50 and the BSE small cap gained by 73.93 points at 6756.46.
BSE FMCG index closed at 1773.96 down by 14.41points as ITC (1.86%), Dabur (0.59%) and HLL (0.05%) ended in red.
BSE Capital goods index inclined by 199.79 points at 9470.97 as L&T 2.90%, ABB 2.67%, Siemens 1.80%, BHEL 0.43%, ended in green.
BSE oil & gas index closed at 6565.45 up by 92.46 points as ONGC 2.29%, IPCL 1.71%, Essar oil 1.64% and BPCL 0.73% ended in positive whereas HPCL (0.97%) closed in negative.
BSE Metal index closed higher by 181.64 points at 9303.65 as Tata Steel 3.08% ended in green whereas Nalco (0.17%), SAIL 4.14%, Hindalco (0.04%) ended in red zone.
BSE IT index surged up by 192.13 points to closed at 5071.72 as Satyam advanced by 7.95%, HCL Tech 7.30%, TCS 5.13%, Wipro 5.11% and Infosys 2.15% ended in green.
BSE bank index surged 169.52 points at 6639.84: PNB 3.30%, SBI 3.24%, OBC 3.13%, ICICI bank 2.78% and HDFC bank 2.23% closed higher.
BSE Auto Index grew137.61 points at 4818.16 as Bajaj Auto 4.03%, M&M 3.60%, Tata Motors 2.26%and Maruti Udyog 1.66% ended in green.
BSE Health Care Index closed at 3686.61 up by 27.43 points as Dr. Reddy and GSK ended in green by 1.21% and 1.16% respectively.
