The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it increased by 81.61 points to close at 15,045.73 while Nifty increased by 34.55 points to close at 4,419.40. Of the 2,737 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,610 stocks advanced while 1,054 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed higher by 62.85 points and 115.88 points at 6,683.70 and 7,904.11 respectively.
BSE Auto Index decreased by 14.56 points to close at 4,888.89 as Hero Honda (1.62%), M&M (1.02%), Maruti Udyog (0.22%) and Bajaj Auto (0.15%) closed in negative while Tata Motors (0.72%) closed in positive.
BSE Capital goods index increased by 125.14 points to close at 12,901.82 as L&T (2.17%) and Siemens (1.20%) closed in green while BEML (2.05%) and ABB (2%) closed in red.
BSE bankex index increased by 55.93 points to close at 8,179.72 as PNB (3.79%), BOI (3.58%), HDFC bank (1.28%), SBI (1.36%) and UTI bank (0.60%) closed in positive while ICICI bank (1.13%) closed in negative.
BSE Metal index closed at 10,870.47 up by 95.45 points as Sterlite industries (4.39%), Nalco (1.89%), SAIL (1.64%), Tata Steel (0.38%) and Hindalco (0.23%) closed in green.
BSE IT index increased by 46.13 points to close at 4,996.66 as TCS (1.51%), Wipro (1.12%), Infosys (1.11%), HCL tech (0.83%) and Satyam (0.47%) closed in positive.
BSE Health Care Index closed higher by 22.14 points at 3,842.90 as Glaxosmithkline (0.97%), Dr Reddy (0.53%) and Cipla (0.45%) closed higher while Sun pharma (0.16%) closed lower.
BSE FMCG index closed lower by 11.20 points at 1,844.48 as HUL (2.30%) and Dabur (1.85%) closed in red while Tata tea (0.93%) and ITC (0.16%) closed in green.
BSE oil & gas index increased by 32.84 points to close at 7,654.31 as ONGC (1.88%) and GAIL (1.80%) closed higher while IPCL (0.31%) and BPCL (0.22%) closed lower.
