Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a negative note as it slipped by 21.40 points to close at 15,289.82 while Nifty decreased by 15.4 points to close at 4,496.75. Of the 2,733 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,692 stocks declined while 978 stocks advanced. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed lower by 44.98 points and 72.81 points at 6,789.57 and 8,207.77 respectively.

BSE Auto Index decreased by 62.86 points to close at 5,017.93 as Apollo tyres (3.09%), M&M (2.63%), Bajaj Auto (1.61%), Tata Motors (1.37%) and Maruti Udyog (0.10%) closed lower while Hero Honda (1.81%) closed higher.

BSE Capital goods index slipped by 204.13 points to close at 12,802.68 as Siemens (7.67%), Praj industries (3.05%), ABB (2.41%), BEML (2.22%), BHEL (2.16%) and L&T (0.86%) closed in red.

BSE bankex index dropped by 34.83 points to close at 8,351.82 as Union Bank (3.51%), Canara bank (2.49%), SBI (2.09%) and HDFC bank (1.31%) closed in negative while Allahabad bank (1.40%), ICICI bank (0.44%) and PNB (0.17%) closed in positive.

BSE Metal index decreased by 222.54 points to close at 11,868.44 as Sterlite industries (4.80%), SAIL (2.85%), Tata Steel (1.98%), Jindal Saw (1.13%), Hindalco (0.97%) and Hind Zinc (0.46%) closed in red while Nalco (0.62%) and Jindal steel (0.19%) closed in green.

BSE IT index increased by 31.57 points to close at 4,879.84 as HCL tech (3.15%), TCS (2.39%), Satyam (1.30%), Wipro (0.98%) and Infosys (0.13%) closed in positive.

BSE Health Care Index grew by 10.11 points to close at 3,824.91 as Dr Reddy (1.79%) and Sun pharma (0.25%) closed in green while Cipla (1.03%) and Glaxosmithkline (0.25%) closed in red.

BSE FMCG index closed flat at 1,846.82 as Dabur (0.93%) and ITC (0.87%) closed higher while Tata tea (4.01%) and HUL (0.43%) closed lower.

BSE oil & gas index advanced by 115.14 points to close at 7,984.91 as Reliance industries (2.86%), IPCL (2.61%) and GAIL (0.51%) closed in positive while ONGC (0.79%), HPCL (0.65%) and BPCL (0.39%) closed in negative.
