Post Session Market Commentary

The BSE Sensex ended the session on a positive note as it closed higher by 166.65 points at 15,732.20 while Nifty increased by 53.3 points to close at 4619.35. Of the 2,709 stocks actively traded on BSE, 1,330 stocks advanced while 1,305 stocks declined. The BSE Mid cap and Small cap closed up 13.05 points and 46.33 points at 6,849.12 and 8,234.45 respectively.

BSE Auto Index increased by 73.28 points to close at 5,198.49 as Bajaj Auto (4.15%), Hero Honda (3.49%), Maruti Udyog (0.68%) and Tata Motors (0.53%) closed higher.

BSE Capital goods index grew by 526.12 points to close at 13,596.20 as BHEL (7.12%), ABB (6.04%), L&T (5.62%), BEML (2.18%) and Suzlon energy (2.06%) closed in green while Siemens (1.56%) and Praj industries (1.21%) closed in red.

BSE bankex index closed lower by 39.59 points at 8,355.17 as ICICI bank (1.53%), PNB (1.21%), Canara bank (0.33%) and SBI (0.24%) closed lower while Union Bank (4.67%) and HDFC bank (1.71%) closed higher.

BSE Metal index increased by 93.90 points to close at 12,305 as Jindal steel (4.96%), Sterlite industries (1.48%), Hindalco (1.32%) and Tata Steel (0.80%) closed higher while Hind Zinc (0.96%), Nalco (0.78%), Jindal Saw (0.38%) and SAIL (0.16%) closed lower.

BSE IT index slipped by 18.49 points to close at 4,902.57 as HCL tech (1.44%) and Infosys (2.01%) closed in negative while Satyam (2.89%), TCS (1.15%) and Wipro (0.54%) closed positive.

BSE Health Care Index decreased by 31.75 points to close at 3,798.44 as Cipla (4.75%), Ranbaxy (0.54%) and Dr Reddy (0.17%) closed in red while Sun pharma (0.68%) closed in green.

BSE FMCG index grew by 42.25 points at 1,871.44 as HUL (5.02%) closed higher while Tata tea (2.16%), Dabur (1.62%) and ITC (0.71%) closed lower.

BSE oil & gas index closed up by 99.09 points at 8,210.63 as ONGC (2.55%), IPCL (1.41%), Reliance industries (1.27%) and GAIL (0.91%) closed higher while BPCL (2.65%) and HPCL (0.73%) closed lower.
